Yesterday I rented Elephant which is loosely based on the Columbine High School tragedy where two students set off bombs and used guns to kill 12 students and 1 teacher. It was very scary to think that anyone could do something like that. They just walked the halls separately killing people; similar to video games they had played at home. I sometimes wonder, though, why in such a situation no one ever tries to rush up and disarm them. A good chop block at the knees or a punch to the throat would take the fight out of anyone. I guess everyone is too frightened. Certainly the smart move is to find the nearest exit. The world is becoming a sad place when even schools are dangerous.

This blog is a continuing stream of consciousness which keeps me amused, out of trouble, or at least minimally awake and is user friendly, cost effective, and may occasionally make one smile for no particular rhyme or reason.

I just hit the quarter million mile mark on American Airlines. I've heard that if you reach the million mark, that you're made Platinum status for life. That would be kind of nice; not having to wait in long lines at the airport and getting priority seating. It would be great during retirement when you have more time for leisure travel. When I was a kid, I thought a million miles was only for so-called jet-setters. You don't hear that term much any more. The airports are filled with people who travel every week. It just takes too long by train or bus.

It was so hot yesterday, that I saw a squirrel and he was fanning his nuts. I think it may have been the same squirrel that I saw last December. He was so cold, that he was roasting his nuts over an open fire. Which brings up the old riddle, If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear, do all the squirrels grab their nuts and run? Something to ponder.
