American Idol was pretty bad last night. Not one singer was particularly good. There hasn't been anyone that I've really liked this season. There was a Hawaiian girl a few weeks ago who at least had some personality and an interesting voice. I don't know if she has a shot at winning, though. She doesn't have a booming voice that comes across on TV.

I watched the Academy Awards last night and managed to stay awake until the end. At least I think so. There are something like 23 or 24 awards given out over three and a half hours. I know it's a big night for Hollywood, but they ought to streamline down to 12 - 16 awards. Does anyone ever remember who wins best short documentary or short feature. How about sound editing or sound mixing. What is sound mixing anyway? I think anyone who gives a speech that's longer than 60 seconds should be hosed down with cold water. It took Renee Zellweger about 15 seconds just to get up from her seat. They should put electrical probes under the seats to shock people to their feet quickly. Lastly, instead of the conductor raising his baton when a speech goes long, he should shoot poison darts at the offender. If I was in charge, the Oscars would be over in a crisp hour and a half with time for commercials.
