I went to see Anacondas:Hunt for the Blood Orchid. It had just about everything that a great B Movie needs; crocodiles, poisonous spiders, leeches, a funky monkey, headhunters, an evil British guy, and, of course, the titular huge Anacondas in a mating pool. The group of scientists and jungle guides are looking for the Blood Orchid which only blooms once every seven years and is the key to eternal life. They have to go upstream in Burma during the rainy season and then hike through the jungle while being stalked by a giant anaconda. It was extremely scary because the anaconda seemed to pick off anyone who strayed from the group and happened to be the worst remaining actor. Towards the end, I was beginning to regret my decision to sit on the side of the theater, rather than in the middle with the 11 or 12 other viewers. You never know, if an anaconda was loose in the theater, it might just sense my body heat and pick me off or perhaps it would be able to smell the mustard from my hotdog that I spilled on my shirt. Luckily, at the end I survived along with the most attractive scientists and the hunky guide and his monkey. The evil British guy fell in the anaconda mating pool as evil British guys usually do. The anacondas were blown up kind of like the shark in Jaws. Somehow I suspect that there are baby anacondas which will be full grown when the Blood Orchid reblooms in 2011. I smell a sequel. Or maybe that's just mustard.
