the little bang

This blog is a continuing stream of consciousness which keeps me amused, out of trouble, or at least minimally awake and is user friendly, cost effective, and may occasionally make one smile for no particular rhyme or reason.

I watched American Idol last night. I think that all six of them tied for second. Last year I really enjoyed watching Clay Aiken improve each week, but this year no one has really grabbed me. I felt like Randy Jackson on the panel, it was enjoyable without really being blown away.

American Idol is on tonight. It should be interesting. Last week the three black women had the lowest votes even though the panel thought they were the best. I think that it's a little insulting to think that the American public doesn't know what it likes. I thought that they gave great performances, but I'd also like to see how the sixteen year old red-haired guy develops over the next 10 years. He might be the next Tony Bennett or Mel Torme - The Velvet Fog. There's nothing wrong with that.

I was pretty impressed hearing about the NFL player who quit football to join the Army Rangers who was recently killed. I doubt whether you'll find many other professional athletes who would pass up 3 million dollars to defend their country. Our society seems to have a twisted view of who the real heroes are today. Michael Jordan is a great athlete. He may even be a good role model. He's not really a hero, though. Tom Cruise may play a lot of heroes, but he's just photogenic guy who's overpaid for what he does. Definitely not a hero. The Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force are filled with the real deal. It's about time they got some respect.
