***************Elegy**********************
My tale was heard and it was not told,
My fruit is fallen and yet my leaves are green,
My youth is spent and yet I am not old,
I saw the world and yet I was not seen,
My thread is cut and yet it is not spun,
And now I live, and now my life is done.

I watched "The Osbournes" for the first time last night on MTV. It was the first epsisode of the second season. What a great show! It's better than a lot of the situation comedies that you see today. It's kind of hard to believe that the lead singer of Black Sabbath would be a role model for family values, but it's too genuine for him to be faking. It's really nice to see a family that loves each other. There's the typical bickering between the son and daughter, Jack and Kelly, but that's to be expected. There is a lot of humor in the show along with quite a bit of wierdness. For example, Jack is always trying to turn the sprinklers on uninvited guests at the front gate and Ozzy tells a hair dresser before a White House function to do something so that he doesn't look like Cher. Remarkably, even though there are a lot of VIP's and celebities in the audience, Ozzy Osbourne is the only person that President Bush introduces by name. It will be interesting to see how the family functions when the mother Sharon tells the family that she has cancer. Definitely a must see.

It's almost Thanksgiving! One of my most favorite holidays, because you mostly get to just eat and snooze. This year we're having dinner at a hotel restaurant, so that my Mom doesn't have to cook and my Dad can get some rest. Since the main idea is for the family to get together, I think it will be a good time. It reminds me of a movie that I watch almost every year. I think it's called "A Christmas Story" from around 1983. In the movie, the Christmas turkey is eaten by a pack of neigborhood dogs and the family ends up eating Christmas dinner at a Chinese restaurant. They wind up eating a goose. There's a funny scene where the head is cutoff because it is staring at the family. There are also quite a few other great scenes. Next to Scrooge and It's a Wonderful Life, it is one of the best holiday films ever made.

Speaking of geese, I saw an entire flock fly over my sunroom a few weeks ago. They were only about 10 feet above me and they were huge. On Saturday there were about two dozen geese floating in the little lake outside my window. I don't know where they're headed, but they sure looked comfortable where they were. It's too bad that people can't be that serene. Everyone is in such a hurry to get somewhere else, that they don't seem to appreciate where they are.
