the little bang

The "Survivor All-Stars" show was kind of creepy last week. Sue accused Richard of "violating" her during one of the awards contests. It looked kind of suspicious. During the contest the previous week, each contestant had to walk down a series of beams and back after capturing a flag. If two opponents met midway on a beam, they had to try to knock the other one off. Richard decided to go naked again and he supposedly thrust himself at Sue when they crossed paths. As I clearly remember, one of the other women told Sue to go another way to avoid Richard. She made the decision to confront Richard which was just plain stupid. I have a feeling she was setting him up for a lawsuit. I don't know who is more at fault. I'm just happy that they're both gone. Good riddance to both of them! Even so, I think it showed a real lack of class for Tom to dance after Sue broke down and left the island. Shii Ann was much more gracious by apologizing to Sue for being unaware of the situation. I hope Tom gets his walking papers next. He's kind of an ignorant oaf.

I went to see "The Passion of the Christ" on Friday. There's a new theater complex in Glenview where the naval air base used to be located which has all stadium seating. Anyway, the film was about 85% done when the power went out all down the street. The movie had just reached the part where Jesus was on the cross at Cavalry and dark clouds filled the sky. The theater gave us free tickets to a future showing. The weather outside was also dark and windy. Kind of a spooky coincidence. I thought the film was great, although very brutal and hard to watch in spots. There are scenes that bring tears to your eyes. If it doesn't win the Oscar for best picture next year, then they might as well just shut down the Academy for lack of relevance. The year is still early, but I can't imagine a better film coming out.
