the little bang

This blog is a continuing stream of consciousness which keeps me amused, out of trouble, or at least minimally awake and is user friendly, cost effective, and may occasionally make one smile for no particular rhyme or reason.

Survivor has turned into a big disappointment this season. They made a twist in the show where two people who had been voted off were returned to the competion. Of course, they have bonded with the weakest remaining members to vote out the strongest members. Which means that the ultimate survivor will be someone who really doesn't deserve to win. That's kind of an insult to the viewers. I think that the next Survivor is supposed to be all-star players from previous versions. That should be interesting. It will probably be the last one that I watch.

I have found one new TV show that I like this season; "The OC" on Wednesday night. It's about a high school kid from a tough town in California who is brought to live with an affluent family in Orange County. It has some interesting characters and dialogue. It kind of reminds me of some of the people that I've known. I guess that I kind of identify with the tough kid on the show because I was raised in a relatively poor town. When I was in high school, I was also bright, but with an attitude. It's hard to shake your roots.

I read "Kate Remembered" during my Thanksgiving break. I really enjoyed it, but then I am a huge Katharine Hepburn fan. It was written by a biographer who met her about 20 years before she died and became a close friend. He often stayed at her estate and was privy to information that others were not. It was an interesting book, but you can't help wishing that he had met her years earlier. Getting some insight as to what she was like in her twenties and thirties would have been fascinating. This book only touches the surface, but it's still a good read.
