My New Year's resolution is still intact. I vowed to give up drinking for a year and I'm past the 100 day mark. It really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. In my twenties, I think it would have been impossible to give it up for even a month. It seemed like every weekend involved alcohol at some point. Next year I might try giving up caffeine. That will probably be much more challenging. I would miss my morning coffee. Giving up TV for a year might be interesting, too. There certainly hasn't been much on TV lately that I would greatly miss. Anyway, let's see if I can make it through this year's resolution. Not having a beer while at a baseball game on a hot afternoon will be very difficult.
the little bang
This blog is a continuing stream of consciousness which keeps me amused, out of trouble, or at least minimally awake and is user friendly, cost effective, and may occasionally make one smile for no particular rhyme or reason.

Nothing much going on. It looks like summer is finally here. I probably won't have to turn on the heat again until next autumn. I like the period when you can turn off the heat, but don't need the air conditioning. If the weather was always in that range, I'd be happy. Of course, the period when you can turn off the air conditioning, but don't need the heat is also nice. I traveled first class to St. Louis today. Every 10 round-trips, your frequent flyer account is updated with four free upgrades. So, I occasionally get to pamper myself with a first class flight. I particularly like the extra shoulder room that you get. Not that I have an extra shoulder, just two that are larger than most. All the trees are in full bloom in St. Louis. I noticed that there were still a few bare ones in the Chicago area last week. I finished my taxes on time and I didn't cheat. Life is great.
