I just hit the quarter million mile mark on American Airlines. I've heard that if you reach the million mark, that you're made Platinum status for life. That would be kind of nice; not having to wait in long lines at the airport and getting priority seating. It would be great during retirement when you have more time for leisure travel. When I was a kid, I thought a million miles was only for so-called jet-setters. You don't hear that term much any more. The airports are filled with people who travel every week. It just takes too long by train or bus.
