I finally saw Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. It was impressive, but I'm not sure that I would call it the movie of the year. Perhaps because I never read the books, but it just never captured my imagination. This is the second movie this year, along with Pirates of the Carribean, that had dead guys fighting. I think that is just a little unfair. Zombies maybe, but skeletons, and particularly ghost-like skeletons, seem to have a huge advantage. How do you kill vapor and smoke?

Another movie that I saw recently was Calendar Girls, which I wasn't expecting to enjoy, but did immensely. It's about an English women's group that decides to raise money for charity by selling a nude calendar of themselves. Although parts of it were predictable, at least it seemed like real life. Definitely a feel-good movie.
